Teh Brainiac

Well, ok, I’m not really a brainiac, but the title makes sense since we’re on a brain kick here.

I suppose I should explain why I am so obsessed with the brain. Well, honestly, I really can’t. I started studying the brain at Wheaton College as a sophomore along with studying animal behavior and basically I’ve never turned back. In the spring of 2009 I’ll graduate Wheaton with a Bachelor’s in Psychobiology. I’ll be attending a graduate school (right now it’s unknown as to which one) in the fall of 2009 to obtain my Master’s in animal behavior with a concentration in neuroscience. One day I hope to either work at a vet clinic or shelter as the behaviorist on staff to help people (and vets) understand their pet better. I am also interested in studying primate behavior in a zoo. I am particularly interested in behavioral neuroscience in animal behavior and the neural correlations to specific behaviors.

Other than being a school geek, I enjoy listening and making music. I play the flute and piano and I am a vocalist. I love Old Timey/Bluegrass music like Crooked Still, Taj Mahal, and the Wayfaring Strangers, as well as Electronic music (total opposite, I know) such as Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, ISAN, Christ., and Radiohead.

I like to eat local produce, I love baking (I can make a mean pie), and I am crazy for all animals. I also write for an underground newspaper at Wheaton called Wesendonk. We’re pretty amazing.
